DIEGO IS A GOD

SPRING

We came together.

As in simultaneously.

At the same time.

Two strangers who had never been together sexually didn’t normally do that. But then again, he hadn’t felt like a stranger while I had his dick in my mouth. Or while he was inside of me. Our bodies had moved together like we’d been doing it for years.

And as the two of us lay side by side in his bed, desperately trying to catch our breath, I tried to make those thoughts leave my head. Just how comfortable it had been with him. I figured it should have been at least a little awkward, but we had fallen into a pace and rhythm that needed no explanation or help.

“That was incredible,” he said, his chest still rising and falling in rapid succession—I could see it out of the corner of my eye.

“It was,” I agreed, turning my head to look at all of his gorgeous tanned glory. Apparently, surfing did a body good.

He angled toward me, his hand reaching out to draw lazy circles on my stomach. “You don’t regret it, do you?” he asked, and I felt myself panic.

“Not at all. Do you?” I asked because maybe he did but was too afraid to say it.

“No. I thought it would be weird, but it wasn’t.”

I felt myself smile. “I thought the same thing.”

“Spring?” he said my name like a question, his hazel eyes staring deeply into mine.

“Yeah?”

“You don’t feel like a stranger,” was all he said before leaning forward and kissing me softly.

When he pulled away, breaking the kiss, I reached out, my hand cupping his cheek. “You don’t either. I’m oddly comfortable with you.”

He nodded at my words, and I knew he felt the same way. There was something between us that we couldn’t explain. Maybe it was our shared history with relationships. Or maybe it was something deeper than there were words for. I wasn’t sure, but I was content with simply accepting whatever was happening between us. It was only temporary anyway. Maybe we both needed exactly this, and we were lucky enough to find it in each other.

“You know,” I started to say, and he focused his attention back on me, “don’t think I forgot.”

“Forgot what?”

I grinned and bit my bottom lip. “How you knew Kaylee was dating.”

He blew out a breath and pretended to be embarrassed. “Dang it, Spring,” he said before sitting up.

I followed his posture, propping a few pillows behind my back for support. “Spill.”

“It’s not that big of a mystery. I mean, I’m sure you could narrow it down.”

“Why are you making this so hard?” I teased. “So, you still stalk your ex on social media. We all do it.”

His face paled slightly. “See? I knew you’d figure it out.”

He sounded so … something—I wasn’t sure what it was.

“You had no idea she’d moved on?”

“No. Not until I saw her posts of them together.”

“You don’t know him, do you?” I asked, realizing that if she’d started dating one of his surf buddies or someone from his industry, it would be like another knife to the heart.
